- Call to Order:
Chairman McCarty, noting that a quorum was present, called the meeting to order at approximately 1834 hours.
- Approval of Minutes and Review of Monthly Reports
- The approval of the minutes of the Commission's monthly meeting held on April 5, 2005 was tabled.
- The Commission reviewed the Deputy Chief's report dated May 3, 2005 and the attached Volunteer Participation report. Chief Milositz reported that: (i) water supply drills were conducted by each shift and volunteer firefighters at Rolling Hills Country Club; (ii) the Training Committee met to review existing training and to work on a standardization of lesson format; and (iii) HVAC coils at Station 1 failed and will have to be replaced. Commissioner Healy requested that a list be prepared itemizing the repairs made at Stations 1 and 2 for the period commencing January 1, 2004 to date.
- The Commission reviewed the Fire Marshal's Monthly Report for April 2005 including the quarterly inspections status report and an updated schedule of inspection fees charged by other Connecticut municipalities. Fire Marshal reported that the Life Safety Division obtained a fire demonstration trailer which the Division used to conduct approximately 30 demonstrations at the annual Home Show at Wilton High School. Fire Inspector Meehan reported that he put together a presentation regarding the prevention of clothes dryer fires, which presentation will be shown on the Department's web site and on the Town's public access channel.
- New Business
- New Firefighter Hire - The Commission reviewed and discussed the timetable for the new hire prepared by Chief Milositz. The Chief also reported that Lieutenants Kitik, Michelsen, Iannaccone and Czarnecki and Firefighters Krozer, Cassin, Coon and Carlson applied for the Captain's position that will be left vacant with Captain Cesareo's retirement. Testing for the Captain's position will take place in approximately 60 days.
- Utility 6 - Chief Milositz reported that Utility 6 arrived and is being fitted in-house with shelving and mounted equipment.
- Adjournment: At approximately 1921 hours, upon motion duly made and seconded, the meeting was adjourned.
The next regular meeting of the Commission will be held on June 7, 2005 at Fire Department Headquarters.
