Wilton Fire Marshal's Office
October 7, 2004
For Immediate Release:
Wilton Fire Marshal, Dave Kohn, announced today the start of this year's Fire Prevention Poster Contest.
The contest theme is "FIRE PREVENTION - EVERYONE/EVERYDAY". Its purpose is to promote child and adult awareness of fire prevention responsibilities.
The annual, statewide competition for the fourth and fifth graders beginning October 4, 2004, is run by elementary school teachers in cooperation with the contest sponsors: The Connecticut Fire Marshals' Association, Office of State Fire Marshal, Connecticut Fire Chiefs' Association, State Board of Education, and the Connecticut FAIR Plan (representing the insurance industry).
All winning posters on the county level will be exhibited in various areas around the State, including the State Capitol during the month of October. From these, a state winner will be chosen to promote fire prevention throughout the State.
Fire Marshal Dave Kohn will be soliciting the assistance of the community for prizes for winning posters and for areas to exhibit all posters submitted in the contest so that community members will all be more aware of the importance of fire prevention at all times. If you would like to donate a prize to this very important mission please contact the Wilton Fire Marshal's office at (203) 834-6249.
Additional information about the contest rules & judging criteria and other useful fire prevention tips are posted on our website.
Sincerely,
Dave Kohn
Fire Marshal
